JOHN WELLESLEY SIMON
1879 - 1924

Second son of Maximilian Frank Simon and his wife Cornelia Georgina (née St. Leger).
Born in Singapore on the 30th January 1879.

Educated at Blundell's School, Tiverton, Devon, 1889 to 1894, and afterwards at King's School, Rochester, Kent, 1895 to 1897.

Entered Medical School at St. Thomas's Hospital in 1897 and in 1905 took MRCS and IACP degrees. He lived in partnership with Dr. Melville-Smith at Huntingford, Herts., whose sister he married in 1907 or 1908.

On outbreak of 1914 - 1918 war he joined the staff of the hospital at Edmonton, North London, and later proceeded with the Army of Occupation to the Ruhr.

In 1920 or 1921 he left England for Durban, South Africa, where he practised as an anaesthetist. He was becoming successful when  he died somewhat suddenly in the latter part of 1924.

He is buried in Durban.
