Source: A tree compiled by John Joseph Stannus (ka John Hugh and Jack) Ingham, son of Dr. Hugh John and Teresa (McDonnell) Ingham after visiting Ireland from his home in New York. He gave a copy to my family in July 1949, when visiting at Ingatestone, Essex.

CHARLES CROMWELL INGHAM  born 1796 Dublin. In 1816, accompanied by his brother Thomas, he went to New York. He there gained much fame as a portrait painter. In 1825, he was one of the founders of the National Academy of Design, of which he was Vice-President, 1845 - 1850. Among others, he painted portraits of the Marquis de Lafayette and Governor de Witt Clinton. Three of his paintings are in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, five are in the New York Historical Museum. Unmarried, Charles Cromwell died in New York, 10 December 1863, aged 67. Buried inTrinity Church Cemetery, New York, underground vault in 212 Easterly Division plot, which he purchased 10 July 1850.

Lived at 212 W. 38th Street, New York.

NB. Also buried in the underground plot are:-
Jane R Ingham, who died 16 March 1875, aged 58.
Maria M Ingham, who died 31 January 1885, aged 90.
Maria is probably the wife of Thomas and Jane their daughter, but I am unable to confirm this.
